Product Overview & Details
Brave New World — Description
Brave New World is a dystopian novel by Aldous Huxley, first published in 1932. It imagines a future society where people are genetically engineered, conditioned from birth, and divided into social classes to maintain stability and happiness.
The society has eliminated many things traditionally associated with human life—such as family, religion, individual freedom, and deep emotional relationships. Instead, citizens are encouraged to consume, seek pleasure, and use a drug called “soma” whenever they experience discomfort or unhappiness.
The story follows characters including Bernard Marx, Lenina Crowne, Helmholtz Watson, and John (“the Savage”). Through their experiences, Huxley explores the conflict between individual freedom and social control.
