About the Story

In the world of Whetherwhy, magic is part of everyday life. People’s magical abilities are connected to the changing seasons, and most people have small talents linked to nature.

However, some children are born as Enchanters—rare individuals who can use the power of all four seasons.

When Juniper Quinn discovers that she is an Enchanter, she is invited to study at Thistledown Academy of Enchantment, a special school where she learns to control her extraordinary abilities.

Her twin brother Rafferty does not want to be separated from Juniper, so he follows her to the capital city of Stormgrove, where he begins an apprenticeship at a bookbindery. Soon, Rafferty becomes involved with a mysterious secret society that operates after dark.

As strange creatures appear and dangers begin spreading, the twins discover that the world of enchantment is more complicated than they imagined.
