NCERT Madhurima — Class 9 Arts Education, 2026–27

I rechecked the information against the 2026–27 CBSE curriculum and the NCERT textbook record. The book is officially titled “Madhurima – A Textbook of Arts for Grade 9” and carries NCERT book code 0914. The NCERT publication information gives ISBN 978-93-5729-550-5 and identifies it as the First Edition, April 2026. 

What is Madhurima?

Madhurima is the new NCERT Arts Education textbook for Grade 9, developed as part of the curriculum reform based on NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023.

It takes an integrated approach to arts rather than limiting Arts Education to drawing or painting. The textbook brings together four major art forms:

• Theatre
• Music
• Dance
• Visual Arts

The approach emphasises experiential learning, creativity, artistic expression, cultural understanding, critical reflection and interdisciplinary connections.

NCERT's new Grade 9 curriculum is explicitly based on NCF-SE 2023, with emphasis on experiential learning, cross-curricular linkages, cultural rootedness, values, Indian Knowledge Systems, inclusion and educational technology. N
